Summary:

The Safe Horizon supervised visitation program provides the setting for safe visitation between a child and his or her non-custodial parent in cases of domestic violence where there has been a court determination that unsupervised visitation is unsafe or inappropriate.Essential Job Functions:– Oversee court-ordered visitation between non-custodial parents and their children;- Prepare reports for the court and ensure quality of all reports submitted by program staff;- Provide ongoing supervision and educational support to program staff on a bi-weekly basis;- Attend trainings and conferences on topics pertaining to child visitation and domestic violence;- Make presentations at conferences and trainings on issues related to domestic violence, custody and visitation as needed;- Participate in quarterly consulting committee meetings of stakeholders in the community for the purposes of ongoing program development and sustainability;- Participate in bi-monthly Supervised Visitation Network meetings;- Maintain case records, detailed statistics, prepare progress reports for funders, and other duties as assigned.Secondary Job Functions:– Attend internal and external meetings, trainings and workshops;- Work with the Director to develop presentations to educate the community about the program, the dynamics of domestic violence and the effects of victimization;- Assist with the administration of direct services.Interacts with:Family Court and Integrated Domestic Violence Court personnel including judges, referees, clerks, and court officers; civil legal attorneys including members of the 18B panel, law guardians, and domestic violence attorneys; NYPD; ACS; and other social service providers.Knowledge and Skills:Required:– Strong interpersonal and crisis management skills;- Sensitivity towards and understanding of victimization, especially the experience of survivors of domestic violence;- Experience with the family court and criminal justice system preferred;- Strong organizational skills;- Excellent verbal and written communications skills;- Ability to work under pressure;- Must be able to work as a part of a team and independently;- At least 2 years’ experience working with children and families affected by domestic violence;- At least one year of supervisory/management experience is preferred.Education:Required:A Masters in Social WorkExperience:Required:Supervisory experience;Experience working with families and children and with domestic violence.Desirable:Fluency in another language preferred but not required.Hours:35 hours per week (Monday through Friday); includes evening hours to be determinedIf hired, I agree to abide by all of Safe Horizon’s rules and regulations, and understand that, if employed, my employment may be terminated with or without cause, and with or without notice, at any time, at the option of either the company or me.  I further understand that no representation, whether oral or written by any representative or agent of the organization, at any time, constitutes a contract of employment. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply. Please follow this link to view complete EEO Law and complaint filing information: https://www.eeoc.gov/sites/default/files/migrated_files/employers/eeoc_self_print_poster.pdf
