Responsibilities:

Orthodontic assistant duties vary depending on applicant’s experience and licensing requirements of the state of employment. May perform the following responsibilities: delivers direct patient care as directed and supervised by the treating orthodontist; performs sterilization and disinfection procedures; prepares and documents lab cases; fabricates Essix retainers; assists with preparation of patient care area; take diagnostic records including alginate, PVS impressions and intra-oral scans; make patient file entries as directed by the doctor; participate in morning meetings and case discussions. *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Qualifications:

Dental assistant license or relevant clinical experience. X-ray license where required. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of orthodontic and dental procedures.

Education Requirements:

High school diploma required; either a diploma from accredited orthodontic assistant program or relevant clinical experience.

Experience Requirements:

Demonstrated knowledge and experience with orthodontic procedures, terminology and techniques.
