Medical Director, Chance for Change
ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Chance for Change, a small not-for-profit OASAS (part 822) licensed outpatient treatment program, provides treatment for homeless adults living with the challenges of substance use disorders. Our clinic and “harm reduction” model connect with each individual’s desire to change in a collaborative, respectful and empathic environment. Individual and group therapy sessions focus not only on sobriety but also on helping our clients manage other life areas such as mental illness, chronic medical conditions, homelessness, unemployment and other life stressors.
REPORTS TO: Director of Outpatient Services
BASIC FUNCTION: The employee will be the Medical Director for our integrated dual diagnosis treatment program at Chance for Change, the NCS outpatient clinic, which addresses the substance use and mental health treatment needs of the program’s clients.
RESPONSIBILITES:
The Medical Director has overall responsibility for:
· Medical services provided by the program
· Oversight of development and revision of medical policies and procedures and ongoing training, in accordance with OASAS requirements
· Supervision of medical staff (if any)
· Collaborative supervision with the Program Director of non-medical staff in provision of substance use disorder services
· Assisting in the development of necessary referral and linkage relationships with other institutions and agencies, e.g., hospitals, health-related facilities, treatment facilities and related resources
· Ensuring program compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
The Medical Director will also provide psychiatric and medical assessments and services to clinic patients and will participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Completion of a residency in psychiatry.
· A subspecialty board certification in addiction psychiatry from the American Board of Medical Specialties, an addiction certification from the American Society of Addiction Medicine, a certification by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM), or a subspecialty board certification in Addiction Medicine from the American Osteopathic Association. A Candidate for such certification may be hired as a probationary medical director. In addition, the medical director must obtain a federal DATA 2000 waiver (buprenorphine-certified) within six months of employment.
WORK COMMITMENT:
We are looking for an 8 hours a week time commitment.
COMPENSATION:
The pay range for this role is between $175.00 and $200.00 per hour for an 8 hour work week.
