Position Summary: Urban Health Plan is currently hiring Certified Medical Assistants (Bilingual Spanish/English) for our School Based Health Care Department. Within School Health, the Medical Assistant will work out Bronx based elementary, middle and high schools. The position comes with a Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm schedule with occasional late nights (School events ie. Parent teacher conference).

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare examination rooms and equipment.
  • Participates in health and wellness activities and health education when required. 
  • Obtain vital signs, chief complaints, and medical history and accurately records in medical records.
  • Completes referrals and discharges patients.
  • Assists providers and nurses during all aspects of exams.
  • Assist provider during visit with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
  • Schedules appointments, verifies insurance and demographic information.
  • Processes diagnostic orders. 

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • National Certification as Phlebotomy Technician required OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), highly preferred.
  • Candidates with previous experience in a health care or school based setting strongly preferred. 
  • Previous experience working with children and adolescents, a strong plus. 
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of taking vital signs, phlebotomy, and medical administration tasks. 
  • Ability to work full time Monday through Friday.

Salary: $18/hr
