Kitchen Supervisor
Salary Range: $23.16 To 23.16 Hourly

BronxWorks is hiring one (1) Kitchen Supervisor for the Living Room Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and coordinates activities of food preparation, kitchen, pantry, and storeroom personnel and purchases or requisitions foodstuffs and kitchen supplies: Plans or participates in planning menus, preparing and apportioning foods, and utilizing food surpluses and leftovers.
- Specifies number of servings to be made from any vegetable, meat, beverage, and dessert to control portion costs.
- Supervises Kitchen Assistant, to ensure cleanliness of kitchen and equipment.
- Supervises Cook and tastes, smells, and observes food to ensure conformance with recipes and appearance standards.
- Supervises workers engaged in inventory, storage, and distribution of foodstuffs and supplies.
- Purchase food items, kitchen supplies, and equipment, or requisitions them from Purchasing Agent.
- Trains new workers.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
- May meet with staff, or client group to resolve menu inconsistencies or to plan menus for special occasions.
- Perform other duties assigned by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Food Protections Certificate
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Supervisory experience in a food service preferred
- Proficiency in the safe operation of all kitchen equipment and Department of Health regulations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Good time management and communication skills
- Basic math skills
- Ability to perform repetitive hand/arm motion daily (i.e. scooping, cutting)
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, crouch, or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather
