BronxWorks is hiring one (1) Director of Social Service for the Stebbins Program
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the program director in recruiting, training, and supervising direct service staff; provide monthly supervision sessions and regular performance reviews.
- Maintain familiarity with social services and resources available both on-site and in the community relating to mental health services, medical care, substance treatment, vital documents, benefits, legal/immigration services, and permanent housing; support direct service staff in accessing resources on behalf of clients
- Conduct and write comprehensive psychiatric evaluations with the supervision of a licensed clinician
- Coordinate caseloads and appointments for contracted psychiatric services
- Provide short-term therapeutic counseling and crisis intervention; support safety planning; conduct risk assessments and psychoeducation for high-risk clients
- Provide scheduled on-call coverage for the BronxWorks mobile crisis team
- Monitor program progress, ensure programs are meeting contractual goals, submit regular reports per funding requirements and internal policies
- Work with the Program Director and fiscal department to plan and manage budgets, expenses, and fiscal reports
- Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or MSW but must obtain license within the first 6 months of hire.
- Candidate must have a valid driver’s license which has been held for at least 1 year; in the last 3 years, candidate must have obtained no more than 3 license violation points
- Knowledge and experience working with diverse and trauma-impacted communities
- A minimum of two years’ experience in social services; prior experience working with homeless populations preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and resourceful with strong time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology
- Bilingual/multilingual preferred, but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
