Background
The HOPE Program is a leader among New York City job training providers, upskilling adult
jobseekers (ages 18 – 70) for a broad range of sectors, including a focus on green construction,
maintenance, infrastructure and related careers. We work with individuals facing deep
structural barriers to employment, including histories with the criminal legal system, current
and/or past homelessness, substance abuse disorders, low educational attainment and more.
Our comprehensive approach includes classroom training, industry-recognized certifications,
digital literacy and access, financial literacy and access, mental health support, case
management, paid job training, and our signature “HOPE for Life” approach, which provides a
vital community of support throughout HOPE graduates’ careers. With measurable outcomes

The Position
HOPE is seeking a Development and Communications Associate who will aid with a portfolio of
institutional giving and governmental grant opportunities for the organization and assist with
external communications. The position will report to the Development and Communications
Manager and collaborate with the Chief Development and Evaluation Officer, Director of
Development, and Development Events and Marketing Associate, as well as the Salesforce
Administrator and Program team. This is a hybrid position and employees are expected to work
2 days per week at our Brooklyn office at 1 Smith Street.
Responsibilities
Foundation/Corporate Grants
● Draft grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports to prospective and existing
funders, using outcomes data and client success stories to develop compelling
pitches for funding in concert with Development and Communications Manager.

Development and Communications Associate

● Alongside the Development and Communications Manager, maintain the deadline
calendar of all development writing projects, including researching and logging
deadlines and submitting materials on time.
Communications
● Draft content, design and execute lively social media posts to support fundraising and
enrollment needs.
● Research and implement opportunities to increase followers on social media channels.
● Maintain the calendar of social media content.
● Work with the Development team on planning and execution of the Annual Appeal and
other fundraising communications pieces.
● Support execution of HOPE’s communications strategy through website updates, social
media engagement, and email blasts.
Other
● Support fundraising and program events throughout the year.
● Participate in other duties related to the smooth functioning of development,
communications, and evaluation as needed.
● Strive for continual professional development and personal growth.
Minimum Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree (English, Communications or other liberal arts study preferred).
● 1-2 years prior experience in a similar role.
● Strong oral and written communications skills.
● Fastidious attention to detail and ability to set and manage multiple competing project
plans.
● Facility for development and communications technologies including Salesforce, social
media platforms, Constant Contact and Canva.
● Pleasant demeanor and willingness to work as a valued member of a team.

Salary/Benefits
$45,000-$55,000 dependent upon experience and skills. HOPE provides a full package of
benefits including healthcare and dental insurance, retirement plan, competitive vacation (plus
half-day Fridays during summer which is equal to 7.5 additional vacation days), and 12 paid
holidays.
