Position Summary: The Community Organizer is responsible for youth and family, member and prospective member outreach, support and recognition, and the organization and facilitation of community meetings and events in the Bronx Mott Haven Community. The Community Organizer supports the Program Director in guiding the Community Partnership’s members and ensuring that all activities contribute to agreed goals and mission of the Coalition.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements member recruitment strategies to recruit and retain a stable, core membership team
  • Recruits and trains Community Ambassadors
  • Engages in outreach to youth and families in the community and supports the work of Community Ambassadors in these efforts
  • Manages events and programs, including but not limited to:  convening planning committees; managing follow-up; coordinating event logistics and debriefings
  • Manages membership records and tracks member contributions, requests, and feedback on referred services
  • Develops awards and recognition programs to acknowledge consistent and substantial contributions to the Community Partnership
  • Manages data collection, outcomes documentation, and draft reports
  • Promotes the Community Partnership’s mission, programs, goals and accomplishments
  • Assists Program Director in overseeing and carrying our communication and marketing strategies
  • Attends Community Partnership meetings
  • Supports the overall efforts of the Program Director, governance team and stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Associates degree also acceptable) and three (3) years successful, relevant experience engaging, youth and families in community-based programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge and success in organizing community members and building coalitions, engaging stakeholders with diverse backgrounds around a common cause
  • Knowledge of Bronx Community District One preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
