jobseekers (ages 18 – 70) for a broad range of sectors, including a focus on green construction,

The Position
HOPE is seeking an Employment Specialist to provide dedicated one-on-one support, job
search and job connection for both current and graduated students from our Bronx programs
(NYC Cool Roofs, Intervine and Sustainable South Bronx). The position reports to the Director
of Employment and Business Services. This is a hybrid position, working out the Bronx office at
1360 Garrison Avenue at least three times a week.
The Employment Specialist provides dedicated one-on-one career coaching and job
placement recommendations for program graduates. The Employment Specialist works closely
with students to draft a client-led career plan, identify opportunities for growth, tailor resumes
and cover letters for each opportunity, and practice interviewing skills. Employment Specialists
also collaborate with the Business Development Manager to screen and refer students to job
openings among HOPE’s Employer Partner network. This position is Temp-to-Permanent.

Responsibilities
Student Services
● Develop and maintain an engaged coaching relationship with an annual caseload of up
to 100 students and graduates, ensuring that 80% of them connect to work within 90
days and stay in their job for at least 90 days.
● Advance career readiness and economic mobility through client-centered, collaborative
employment-focused engagements, more specifically:
● Research and recommend employment opportunities within and beyond the HOPE
employer network
● Co-create strategic career pathways based on client values and goals
● Assist students to develop and maintain a job seeker portfolio, with updated
Resumes, Cover Letters, References and other application materials.
● Track and evaluate student job application activity to encourage motivation and
gather data on employment trends and best practices
● Collaborate with the Career Advancement Coordinator and retention teams to
facilitate Job Club, a weekly workshop for active job seekers
● Secure proof of employment for new hires and facilitate a smooth handoff to the
Alumni Support Associate.
● Collaborate across all Program departments to support a culture of #HOPE4Life where
program completers remain engaged with HOPE and pay it forward when they can.
Administrative & Program Duties
● Gather and report on student feedback and requests regarding HOPE services
● Conduct timely case notes and data entry in Salesforce and document preparation for
soft and hard copy files on services and outcomes.
● Participate in regular team and interdepartmental meetings to review new protocols,
learn new skills and elevate client needs.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
● At least two years of case management or workforce development experience.
● Demonstrated ability to build rapport with a wide range of clients and practice
client-centered counseling.
● Ability and interest in advancing economic mobility through screening and recruitment
(This position’s performance is measured by job placement rate.)
● Excellent oral and written organizational and communication skills.
● Experience documenting interactions with clients within a 48 hour period and using a
CRM (HOPE uses Salesforce.)
● Proficient in: Google Workspace, Professional Correspondence, and Virtual Facilitation
EmploymentSpecialist
● Must be a strong team player who can independently; strong organizational skills a plus.
Salary/Benefits
The salary range is $50,000 – $58,000,and is dependent upon experience. HOPE provides a
full package of benefits including healthcare and dental insurance, retirement plan,
competitive vacation (plus half-day Fridays during summer which is equal to 7.5 additional
vacation days), and 12 paid holidays.
