Last month, our community joined for a remarkable event at our non-profit partner WHEDo. The event was designed to spotlight and support the talent and ingenuity of our local merchants and entrepreneurs. The gathering served as a powerful reminder of small businesses’ vital role in shaping our neighborhood’s culture and economic fabric.
This event was made possible through the collaboration of JARC with WHEDco, The Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union, NYPD, University Neighborhood Housing Program, NYC small businesses, Ariva, Community Board 4 and 5, The Bronx Economic Development Corporation, Elevate Digital, Amalgamated Bank, Spring Bank, NYS Department of Labor, Ariva, Legal Aid Society, Brooklyn Legal Services BKA, Transformed the venue into a dynamic marketplace filled with creativity and innovation. Attendees were treated to an impressive showcase of products, services, and ideas— all reflecting the dedication and resilience of local entrepreneurs.
A series of enriching panel discussions allowed business owners to share their journeys— stories of challenges faced and success achieved— while offering valuable insights and inspiring entrepreneurs. The atmosphere was one of collaboration and celebration. Small business owners explored vibrant booths, enjoyed the local breakfast, and participated in workshops designed to nurture entrepreneurial spirit. Community Leaders emphasized the importance of investing in local businesses and learning about community safety, highlighting the event as a vital opportunity to strengthen economic ties and foster lasting connections.
This gathering was more than a marketplace; it was a collective affirmation of our commitment to nurturing local talent and innovation. Each transaction represented more than a sale—it was a vote of confidence in the hardworking individuals who contribute to our community’s vibrancy and resilience.
As the event concluded, the sentiment among participants was clear: supporting local entrepreneurs isn’t just an act of economic engagement — it’s an investment in the future of our community. With the success of this celebration, we look forward to continuing to champion our local businesses, ensuring they have the tools and support to thrive for years to come.
