ABOUT THE PROGRAM: NCS Scholars: LIC provides year-round housing and support for homeless college students, ages 18 and over. The program functions essentially as a student residence, but with additional on-site services designed to help residents navigate obstacles that can derail progress toward a degree or credential. On-site staff, help connect residents with necessary social services and entitlements, resources for mental and physical health, academic and employment support, financial assistance and more. By eliminating housing insecurity and providing targeted support, we will afford residents the chance to have a fuller, more focused college experience and make sustained progress toward a degree or credential that will ultimately help them achieve self-sufficiency.

REPORTS TO: Program Director, NCS Scholars: LIC

BASIC FUNCTION: The Case Manager (CM) engages with residents to provide supportive counseling and case management at NCS Scholars: LIC

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Liaise with campus staff to ensure adequate coordination of services for residents.

· Conduct a comprehensive In-Take assessment for all new residents and review the agency’s policies and procedures with them. Develop service plans for all new tenants within 30 days of their arrival.

· Maintain concise and accurate residents’ files including current case notes and information about each resident’s progress with their service plan with an understanding of the confidentiality issues that surround these files.

· Provide residents with necessary referrals to resources that will help them navigate obstacles that can derail progress toward degree or credential. This includes, but is not limited to entitlements, medical, mental health, academic, vocational and/or employment resources.

· Coordinate and run special events for the residents, as required.

· Participate in case conferences, staff meetings and training sessions and represent the agency at assigned meetings and conferences.

· Provide monthly statistical reports on time and accurately.

· Work collaboratively with the Resident Aide to ensure residents adhere to program rules and policies and address concerns that may arise.

· Work cooperatively with staff at all levels and with external partners to ensure quality service provision and the development and improvement of team performance.

· Hours may include evening/ late nights depending on program needs.

· Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Requires a Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred) in social work, psychology, or other acceptable equivalent

· Demonstrated experience working with a diverse student population that has challenges with, but not limited to, mental health, substance use, HIV education, A strong and deep understanding of the developmental needs of a student population, sensitivity to ethnic and cultural diversity and LGBTQ+ identity, and knowledge of and commitment to working from a strength-based, student-development perspective.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong computer skills required specifically knowledge of AWARDS and Microsoft Office.

· Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Regularly required to use near sight vision to operate a computer.

· Regularly required to use routine office equipment including a computer and a telephone.

· Ability to lift items up to 25 lbs.

SALARY: $42,000 -$50,000 per year
