The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and facilitate rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

Description

Position Summary: We are seeking to fill positions in the Division of Disease Control that will provide Software Development services for DOHMH’s COVID-19 work in New York City.  It is expected that the position will work 35 hours per week. This position will support informatics programs and projects funded under the ELC grant. This person will report to DMSC and routinely liaise with partners across The Division of Disease Control as well as across other divisions including the Division of Finance and the Division of IT.

Responsibilities:

  • Draw technical architecture, workflow, data flow, and related technical design diagrams
  • Write software services and applications using modern programming languages
  • Analyze data, produce automated reports, and perform quality assurance
  • Perform proof of concept projects to evaluate new technologies
  • Pursue opportunities to learn, grow, and take on new challenges within the organization

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience writing software in C, C++, C#, Java, Python, or R
  • 2 years of systems administration experience in Windows, Linux, or Mac
  • 2 years of experience troubleshooting computer network environments
  • 1 year of experience using relational database management systems
  • Degree or certificate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or related Mathematical Science

Salary: Max $135k annually
