Development Officer (HEO) – Major Gifts POSITION DETAILS Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, Communications and External relations, the Major Gifts Officer is primarily responsible for building relationships and securing five- and six-figure philanthropic gifts for the benefit of Bronx Community College. The primary responsibilities of the Major Gift Officer include, but are not limited to: • Discovering, cultivating and soliciting major gift donors • Maintaining an active portfolio of major gift and high-level annual fund donors • Qualifying donors from the prospect pool for assignment to major gift portfolios • Creating proposals and collateral materials to support major gift solicitations • Nurturing relationships with faculty and administration in support of advancement goals • Supporting annual gala and other fundraising activities via existing and developing relationships with individuals QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree and eight years’ related experience required. Preferred Qualifications: The successful candidate should have a strong track record in fundraising, be a person of the highest professional integrity and possess the following senior-level qualifications: Leadership experience in managing institutional development, including major gift solicitation, planned Givings, events planning, and targeted drives for corporate and foundation donations and sponsorships. Acument for building a strong and effective network of supporters among the College’s external public, such as community opinion and business leaders, trendsetters in academia, as well as successful role models in the professional and cultural fields of endeavor Ability to communicate with and harness energies from a wide base and diverse groups of people, from board members, faculty, staff, community leaders, alumni, business executives to volunteers representing varied ethnic, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds Possession of a professional portfolio that documents career successes in building and leading results-oriented operations and programs Strong organizational and leadership skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience in grant writing, business plan development, and budget management Familiarity with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publishers, and Outlook), virtual platforms (Teams, Zoom, Webex, Skype), social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and G-Suite (Google Docs, Google Mail, Google Hangout, etc.) is a plus Familiarity with student management and reporting systems such as blackboard, Cavas, Schoology, Banner, and Argos is also a plus CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Directs College’s fundraising strategy and administration of fund-raising programs. Designs, implements and monitors comprehensive resource development program Responsible for meeting specific goals and targets Develops funding strategies; assesses outcome of strategic plan Oversees a portfolio of annual and major gift prospects to establish and sustain ongoing relations Maintains relationships with donors and sponsoring organizations to cultivate and maintain funding Ensures reporting requirements are completed in timely and accurate manner Manages professional and clerical staff Performs related duties as assigned Job Title Name: Development Director CUNY TITLE Higher Education Officer FLSA Exempt COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The salary is commensurate with education and experience, within the approved range of $124,656 – $132,987 .
