Description

Title: Compliance Assistant

 Primary Function:

 The Compliance Assistant will be responsible for creating applicant files for all incoming electronic/paper applications and submitted household documents, answering phone inquiries, performing electronic filing, assisting compliance specialists with third-party forms, picking up mail, sorting all applicant documents received by mail, email, and on Housing Connect, updating multiple property waiting lists, and entering data to create new waiting lists.

Mon – Thurs 9am -5pm and remote on Fridays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Download and create electronic applicant files for all incoming applicant household documents via email or Housing Connect, NYC’s online lottery system.
  • Complete and send third-party verifications as needed.
  • Contact third parties (e.g., employers, banks, financial institutions) to obtain third-party verifications through fax or verbal clarification when necessary.
  • Organize electronic applicant files in the designated order.
  • Answer the primary office phone and direct applicant inquiries.
  • Follow up with applicants via phone/email regarding the receipt of emails and requests.
  • Enter applicant data into Yardi database to create guest cards.
  • Assist department managers with tasks as needed.
  • Pick up and drop off incoming and outgoing mail.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of customer service or administrative experience.
  • Strong communication, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with data entry and proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Microsoft Office). (Advanced ADOBE experience preferred)
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED.
  • Experience in affordable housing lotteries and familiarity with

NY Housing Connect 2 is a plus.

  • Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) is a plus.
