Job Summary:

WHEDco seeks a highly-motivated and energetic team player with a commitment to WHEDco’s mission to manage and provide oversight of the citywide legally exempt inspections team of the Home-Based Childcare Services Department. The role involves overseeing and managing the daily operations of a large team of home visitors who are tasked with ensuring that all of New York City’s enrolled informal childcare providers operate safe and nurturing programs in line with state regulations.  It requires strong communication, analytic and observational skills, as well as the ability effectively assess and report on varying scenarios in line with regulations. The Project Coordinator must be a self-starter who thrives in a fast paced and constantly evolving work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assign, supervise and evaluate the work of Legally Exempt Home Visitors and Case Managers  
  • Ensure adherence to and enforcement of New York State child care regulations, protocols and procedures for the proper conduct annual, complaint, monitoring and enhanced rate determination inspections.
  • Develop and implement inspection protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with OCFS regulations.
  • Facilitate the training of legally exempt home visiting team
  • Develop and implementing a plan to schedule, track and complete all legally exempt inspections in line with contractual obligations. 
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Coordinators, Program Quality Assurance Coordinator, and Background Risk Assessment Manager to meet the requirements of OCFS contract.
  • Conduct supervisory field visits when needed to verify compliance with the New York State regulations for legally exempt childcare.
  • Provide pertinent information regarding policies and regulations to City (HRA, ACS) and State (OCFS) partners.
  • Other projects as they arise.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • BA or higher in early childhood, education, social services or similar field required. MA in Education, Human Services or similar field is preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with early childhood education and child development .
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytic, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to proactively multi-task and adapt to changing and competing needs.
  • Must have a sense of humor
