Description

Background
The HOPE Program is a leader among New York City job training providers, upskilling adult
jobseekers (ages 18 – 70) for a broad range of sectors, including a focus on green construction,
maintenance, infrastructure and related careers. We work with individuals facing deep
structural barriers to employment, including histories with the criminal legal system, current
and/or past homelessness, substance abuse disorders, low educational attainment and more.
Our comprehensive approach includes classroom training, industry-recognized certifications,
digital literacy and access, financial literacy and access, mental health support, case
management, paid job training, and our signature “HOPE for Life” approach, which provides a
vital community of support throughout the lives of HOPE graduates’ careers. With measurable

The Position
Position Overview
The HOPE Program is seeking a dedicated Climate and Social Impact Associate to join the
Climate Justice Fellowship Plus Program, working to deliver environmental initiatives in the
Bronx. This position will help develop strategies, provide community resources, and
incorporate local perspectives into environmental education, empowering residents to address
climate change and promote economic stability in the South Bronx. This position is a hybrid
position working onsite at least three days per week.
About the Climate Justice Fellowship Plus Program
The Climate Justice Fellowship Plus Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor and
supported by U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is a pilot initiative in partnership
with NYSERDA. The program advances climate justice and builds community wealth in the
Bronx and Queens, fostering equitable climate action. More information can be found here.
This is a full time position that will last for 15 months.

Responsibilities
● Community Education & Outreach: Organize and deliver environmental workshops,
table at community events, and create media resources that inform and engage local
residents.
● Green Programs: Support and expand HOPE’s green programs, including existing and
planned initiatives focused on clean energy and sustainability. These include solar
energy education, environmental sustainability in collaboration with CUNY, and
hands-on programs that prepare residents for green jobs and economic mobility.
● Program Impact & Environmental Metrics: Track program impact with a focus on
geographic concentration, measuring environmental outcomes such as air and building
temperature reduction, and financial health impacts like energy consumption savings.
Recommend adjustments to ensure programs remain responsive and impactful.
● Focused Geographic Concentration: Assist in developing a targeted approach to
enhance climate resilience in high-need neighborhoods. This strategy will address local
climate risks like extreme temperature fluctuations, flooding, and environmental
hazards, contributing to sustainable and resilient community infrastructure.
● Strategic Development: Design and implement a strategy that attracts investment from
anchor institutions, promoting climate resilience and local wealth-building initiatives in
the community.
Minimum Qualifications
● Must be a resident of New York’s 14th Congressional District.
● Candidates should identify with one of the priority populations as defined by the
Climate Justice Fellowship Plus Program.
● Willingness to work full-time in the Bronx for the full 15-month duration of the
fellowship.
● Passionate about climate justice and community-driven solutions
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective community engagement
● Experience or interest in clean energy and environmental sustainability
Salary/Benefits
The salary for this position is $58,500. HOPE provides a full package of benefits including
healthcare and dental insurance, retirement plan, competitive vacation (plus half-day Fridays
during summer which is equal to 7.5 additional vacation days, and 12 paid holidays.
