BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. From toddlers to seniors, we feed, shelter, teach, and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Act as a community representative of BronxWorks Jobs Plus and community liaison
  • Must be a NYCHA resident of Melrose, Betances, Courtlandt or Moore Housing Developments.
  • Outreach, recruit, engage and enroll residents to promote and share program services and in becoming members of Jobs-Plus 
  • Inform residents about all program services including but not limited to employment, training, education, and economic development opportunities that are available 
  • Self-directed and organized; Utilize strategies for creating an environment in the housing development that encourages work and engagement in the community.
  • Good listening skills; be able to process; to effectively agitate; and to identify people’s needs and potential. 
  • Distribute program marketing materials through a combination of knocking on doors, talking to residents in their homes or lobbies, and attending tenant association meetings, community meetings or events. 
  • Coordinate efforts with NYCHA-REES and property management offices to identify lease-holding residents and devise engagement strategies that will lead to enrollment and participation in program services. 
  • Share the Jobs-Plus “Welcome Packet”, where the program, its services, and benefits would be promoted 
  • Market the Earned Income Disallowance (EID) program and other incentives.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School diploma or equivalent credentials, will consider pending completions.  
  • Being a member of the Jobs-Plus program, outreach or community engagement experience  preferred.  
  • Prior experience or related experience preferred. 
  • Excellent communication and Interpersonal Skills 
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other standard business technology. 
  • Have a working knowledge of the local community. 
  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred
  • Additional duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods. 
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time. 
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork. 
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents. 
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation. 
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
