Description
Position Summary: The Utility Person performs custodial and maintenance duties in and around the Phipps Opportunity Center; troubleshoots, performs minor repairs.
Reesponsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, lab, offices, and classrooms using established practices and procedures.
- Conduct daily walk thru of the site to ensure no leaks have occurred in the ceiling or floor tiles.
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, empty /clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
- Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish.
- Locking and/ or unlocking facility on a daily basis: secure building when facility is not in use, and check for unlocked doors and windows, report unauthorized occupants.
- Remove snow, ice, or debris from side walks within sixteen feet of the facility.
- Wash interior and exterior windows of the facility.
- Attend professional development training regarding cleaning methods and techniques, and new products.
- Handle recycling materials.
- Performs various maintenance and custodial duties such as installation of light bulbs in restrooms, lab, and offices.
- Change ceiling tiles whenever necessary.
- Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with the PHSI Superintendent and Custodial Staff at PHSI through effective communication.
- Maintains inventory and submits written requests for supplies; tests and evaluates new supplies and equipment.
- Ability to provide a touch up paint job to the facility whenever necessary such as patching up holes in the wall.
- Report damage or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Monitor the smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers for repair, or renewal.
- Hanging up bulletin boards, photos, frames, etc.
Qualifications:
- At least one year of custodial experience.
- Must exhibit a positive and flexible attitude, and work well as part of a diverse team.
- High school diploma or GED is preferred or one year of experience.
- Have experience making minor repairs and touch up painting.
Salary: $40-45k annually, commensurate wit experience
