Salary range for this role will be $65,000.00 to $75,000.00, based on education, training and experience.

Position Summary:

The Campus Director will collaborate with Phipps Neighborhoods staff, school leadership and other local stakeholders to build a model where all community resources are directed towards students and their families, in the service of enhancing student achievement.  Campus school staff members work in a team structure, where they collaborate every day to meet students’ needs and to learn from one another. Teachers and other staff members work together to make the school and our programs work for our students and families, and this collaboration is built into the daily life of the school and/or center.  Ongoing daily interactions with Teachers, Principals and staff during programming hours is a key component for the Campus Director to achieve the program goals for the school program year.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Phipps Neighborhoods seeks a full‐time Campus Director to fill this position. This individual will manage a Campus Model in which they would supervise two (2) or more program within a site or area. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

General:

  • On a campus with a Community School, manage the Community School services and staff and in partnership with the school principal ensure all community school components are implemented strategically and effectively.  These components include attendance interventions to reduce student absenteeism, extended learning and academic supports, health and mental health services, family engagement, and community partnerships.  Supervise the implementation of other Phipps Contracts within the school.
  • On a campus with afterschool program(s), supervise the director/coordinator, the model, the relationship with the principal, and expectations of the funder.  These components include program fidelity, attendance entry, and staff development.  

Staffing and Supervision:  

  • Oversee recruitment, training, supervision and performance evaluations of FT/ PT program staff with the support and guidance of the Managing Director and Human Resources Department
  • Provide direction and delegate responsibilities to FT/ PT staff to ensure implementation of high quality programs that align with organizational priorities.  
  • Provide ongoing observation, coaching and feedback to staff and facilitate relevant professional development for staff.
  • Oversee weekly timesheets and payroll

Contract and Budget Management:

  • Collaborate with site‐leadership to plan and implement program activities and services that align to the overall organizational goals.
  • Utilize programmatic objectives and priorities to develop budgets that strategically leverage all Phipps Neighborhoods funding within the campus.
  • Manage all related programmatic budget oversight including purchases, reporting and budget modifications with the support of the Finance Department.
  • Participate in the data collection, management and analysis on student outcomes, and use data regularly for continuous improvement of the program model in partnership with the Data Evaluation & Learning Department.
  • Supervise data entry and record‐keeping related to the program’s deliverables to ensure 100% compliance.

Partnership/ Relationship Development

  • Maintain and provide oversight of contractual partnerships with private, state and city agencies.  
  • Develop, deepen and coordinate community partnerships with varied community based organizations and service providers to meet the identified needs of students, families, and the school in‐school and after‐school settings.
  • Communicate with students, parents/caregivers and school staff frequently and effectively, connecting students to a range of services and programs inside and outside the school that address their physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development.  
  • Coordinate/ schedule/ attend site‐leadership meetings in partnership with administrators and/or other program stakeholders.  
  • Serve as the liaison between Phipps Neighborhoods and school.
  • Participate and contribute to division‐wide events and initiatives (i.e. planning meetings, professional learning days, Middle/ High School Spotlight events, CES Collaborative Events).

Qualifications/Experience:  

The ideal candidate will be high‐energy leader, with a passion for helping all young people succeed, and a record of accomplishment of strong management skills. The Campus Director must possess exceptional writing, speaking, interpersonal and organization skills, and must be able to be a great representative of Phipps Neighborhoods and school

leadership.  Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities is necessary.  

Prior supervisory experience is essential.  Finally, they should be a pro‐active leader and have successful experience working in a school, with the capacity to be flexible, collaborative, and solutions‐oriented.

Required:  

• Bachelor’s degree (particularly with coursework in Education or Social Work) preferred plus at least five (5) years of successful relevant experience, including at least one year experience working in an urban school environment.  Minimum required education is some college.  

• Prior supervisory experience

• Evidence of culturally competent practices and familiarity with NYC non‐profits and social services

• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse staff, student body and families, as well as a team of professionals at the school and across the organization  

• Must be available to work during established school based programming hours – Remote work is not available

Preferred:  

  • Master’s degree in Education, School Counseling, Social Work or a related field
  • Spanish fluency
  • Experience using student data to guide practice.
