Salary range for this role is $80,000.00 to $85,500 based on education, training and experience.
About the Position
Phipps Neighborhoods is a dynamic nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for children, youth, and families in underserved communities. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Grants and Special Projects Manager to join our Development Team. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Grants and Special Projects Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the team’s efforts to secure funding through public and private grants, and design and execute special projects. This position will play a pivotal role in expanding and diversifying Phipps funding streams, and contribute to the overall growth of the Development Department and agency by actively participating in team-wide initiatives, sharing best practices, and championing a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Position Description
GRANTS: Support various components of foundation and government grant writing, tracking, and reporting
Collaborate with the Development Team to proactively identify and research a wide range of grant opportunities, ensuring alignment with Phipps Neighborhoods’ mission and strategic goals.
Craft persuasive and compelling grant proposals, applications, and supporting documents that captivate funders and effectively communicate the impact of our programs.
Identify population-level data to inform and justify the organization’s approach and proposed interventions
Act as key liaison between programs, data, and development teams to support effective connections between grant implementation, outcomes, reporting structures, and program operations
Build, implement, and oversee strategies, systems, and structures for reporting key grant deliverables and program insights:
Devise and implement annual grant calendar which forecasts, tracks and captures application and report deadlines, requirements, and submissions
Devise and implement systems and structures for forecasting, capturing, and reporting key quantitative and qualitative data for grant applications and reports
Directly manage timelines and the overall process to ensure the on-time completion of high quality, responsive, and compliant grant proposals
Prepare and coordinate all proposal package components, including budgets, subawards, administrative documents, internal approvals, etc.
Work closely with the Director of Development to draft supporting documents for proposal submissions, including letters of collaboration/intent/support, cover letters, facilities statements, mentoring and data management plans, etc.
Grant Execution and Management:
Work closely with program leaders and staff to gather essential information and data for grant applications and reports, showcasing the effectiveness and success of our initiatives.
Lead the coordination with stakeholders to ensure strict compliance with grant terms and conditions, tracking progress, and milestones.
Skillfully manage grant budgets and financial reporting, ensuring accurate allocation of funds and seamless collaboration with the Finance Department.
Maintain detailed and well-organized records of grant activities and outcomes, demonstrating our dedication to transparency and accountability.
Develop and generate summary reports of proposal submissions and outcomes to the Director of Development and Chief of Strategy
SPECIAL PROJECTS: Spearhead the planning, coordination, and execution of diverse and impactful special projects, including signature events, innovative partnership opportunities, and the development of program models that advance the visibility, quality, and funding potential of the organization, potentially including data analysis and reporting, leading internal working groups, staff development and onboarding supports, internal communications, and new program design and launch. Special projects include but are not limited to the following:
Events + Corporate & Volunteer Engagement
Support and Project Manage key fundraising events in partnership with the Manager of Development and Events and the Communications team
Leverage existing relationships with corporate supporters to curate and scale engagement opportunities
Impact Communication & Advocacy
Collaborate with program leaders and the Communications Team to craft compelling narratives, reports, and success stories that effectively communicate the transformational impact of Phipps Neighborhoods’ programs to stakeholders, funders, and the wider community.
Contribute to the creation of visually engaging presentations, materials, and data-driven presentations that captivate donors, leaving a lasting impression of our work.
Utilize excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate meaningful engagement during donor meetings, site visits, and other external interactions.
Aggregate messaging toolkits and empower appropriate departments, staff and community members with relevant tools and information for participation in advocacy efforts; project manage organization’s participation in advocacy efforts
Data & Research
Track partnership prospect and engagement data; analyze data for opportunities for cultivation and engagement
Work with the Data Team to support data collection across the agency, and create tools and reports to enhance learning opportunities
Conduct research to promote evidence-based design in program model, professional development, or initiative development
Communications
Support the development of communication strategies and tools to enhance internal and external messaging, drive targeted fundraising campaigns, and ensure language for internal and external audiences that align/support Phipps mission and vision
Support the development and execution of Board facing materials including
Quarterly Board report
Fiscal program reports and data summaries
Donor solicitation materials
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in social work, education, or related field preferred; and relevant work experience in the non-profit sector or related field.
Proven experience in grant writing, with a track record of successfully securing grants from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex concepts and impact narratives clearly and compellingly.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate with multiple constituencies across staff, community and leadership levels, and the capacity to work with a high degree of independence.
Proven strong research, writing and analytic skills.
Advanced knowledge of Excel and the full Microsoft Suite of applications.
