Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Adult Medicine, we are seeking an Assistant Director to support the day-to-day management of our Adult Walk-In Department at Urban Health Plan. In partnership with the Director of Adult Medicine Services, the Assistant Director serves as a key member of management in our El Nuevo San Juan Community Health Center in the Bronx. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Public Health, Hospitality Management, or other fields of study is required. 
  • 2-5 years of overall healthcare/medical office experience, including minimum 1-2 years of supervisory functions. 
  • Track record of success of working with medical providers, clinical staff, and administrative staff.
  • Knowledge of utilizing electronic health records. 
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is required. 

Key Duties:

  • Responsible for the Walk-In department operations including registration, patient flow, discharge, appointments, and referrals.
  • Performs and oversees payroll functions for all departmental associates.
  • Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Adult Medicine, collaborates with the Assistant Director of Adult Medicine and lobby concierge coordinator to ensure that the forms process is followed.
  • Prepares monthly schedules for all associates.
  • Assures adequate supplies and equipment are in stock and readily available.
  • Assists in assuring the providers complete their administrative functions.
  • Responds in a time sensitive manner to patient complaints.
  • Conducts daily huddles.
  • Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Adult Medicine, collaborates with the Assistant Director of Adult Medicine to facilitate the transfer of Walk-In patients to Adult Medicine.  
  • Proposes changes in the departmental operations to achieve operating efficiency.
  • Operates within budget guidelines and assists with budget planning.
  • Manages human resources activities of the department including selection, hiring, orientation, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations and termination. 
  • Reviews and analyzes visits data to assure maximum productivity.  
  • Responsible for quality improvement including the analysis of data for the monthly (Operation Sub-Council) meeting.
  • Assures compliance with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to HRSA, NYSDOH, and Joint Commission.  
  • Responsible for doing for performing routine inspections using the electronic tracer software.
  • Acts as intermediary between physicians and staff.

Starting Compensation: Minimum $60,000 per year; Maximum $65,000 per year
