Description

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with independent and chain pharmacies across NYC.
  • Serve as a liaison to independent and chain pharmacies, reporting questions and concerns to the Immunization Infrastructure and Clinical Support Unit Pharmacist and Medical Specialist and providing technical assistance to pharmacies when appropriate.
  • Coordinate the annual orientation sessions for the Pharmacy Immunization Standing Order Program.
  • Ensure applicants to the Pharmacy Immunization Standing Order Program complete required trainings, have immunization certifications in place, and provide vaccine storage and handling information.
  • Coordinate receipt and signing of cooperative agreements and distribution of standing orders for the Pharmacy Standing Order Program.
  • Monitor pharmacy compliance with the Pharmacy Immunization Standing Order Program, such as reporting vaccine administration data to the Citywide Immunization Registry and timely submission of aggregate vaccination data.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain tracking systems for the Pharmacy Immunization Standing Order Program and other pharmacy vaccination activities.
  • Review and analyze pharmacy vaccine administration data using aggregate reports of doses administered and data submitted to the Citywide Immunization Registry.
  • Evaluate pharmacy vaccination activities.
  • Update and maintain vaccination location data in the NYC Vaccine Finder and the NYC Health Map.
  • In collaboration with other members of the Immunization Infrastructure and Clinical Support Unit, support vaccination campaigns, including influenza, COVID-19 and adult vaccination campaigns, and support response efforts to outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases.
  • Participate in additional Immunization Infrastructure and Clinical Support Unit, Bureau of Immunization, and Department of Health and Mental Hygiene activities as needed

Qualifications:

  • 1.  For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health) A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.
    To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have:
    1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
    2. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
    3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least a master’s degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in “2” above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in “1” and “2” above.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the primary prevention of disease through vaccination.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Data analysis skills, with experience using and querying databases.
  • Experience with coordinating projects, including tracking progress and deliverables.
  • Experience working with pharmacies or other healthcare providers or facilities.
  • Experience promoting immunizations.
  • Experience with storing and handling vaccines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

Salary: $70k annually
