BronxWorks is hiring 1 Community Coach for the Workforce Development Program
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as a community representative of BronxWorks Jobs Plus
- Outreach, recruit, engage and enroll residents to promote and share program services and in becoming members of Jobs-Plus
- Inform residents about all program services including but not limited to employment, training, education, and economic development opportunities that are available
- Develop strategies for creating an environment in the housing development that encourages work and engagement in the community.
- Assist in designing and implementing effective & successful marketing and outreach strategy that engages NYCHA residents through door-to-door canvassing, tabling, social media, community events and other key opportunities.
- Represent the program at resident association meetings, community events, and community partner meetings.
- Assist with planning and executing all employment related special events including but not limited to job fairs, day/evening workshops, collaboration with community partners.
- Collaboratively conduct on-going exploration to ensure program is addressing community needs and NYCHA resident’s expectations.
- Outreach, recruit, engage and enroll residents to promote and share program services and in becoming members of Jobs-Plus
- Inform residents about all program services including but not limited to employment, training, education, and economic development opportunities that are available.
- Develop strategies for creating an environment in the housing development that encourages work and engagement in the community.
- Work flexible hours, with availability to work evenings and Saturdays, with prior notice.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a NYCHA resident of Melrose, Betances, Courtlandt or Moore Housing Developments
- High School diploma or equivalent credentials, will consider pending completions.
- Being a member of the Jobs-Plus program, preferred.
- Good listening skills; be able to process; to effectively agitate; and to identify people’s needs and potential.
- Prior experience or related experience preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other standard business technology.
- Excellent communication and Interpersonal Skills.
- Self-directed and organized.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
