Positions Summary: HOPE is seeking an experienced manager to oversee essential skills instruction, student management and achievement, and program alignment across job training and transitional employment programs in the Bronx. Currently, HOPE’s Bronx site runs two job training programs – Sustainable South Bronx (SSBx) and YouthBuild – along with two transitional employment programs – Intervine and NYC °CoolRoofs. Our programs serve job-seeking adults in gaining the soft and hard skills, work-based learning, and certifications necessary for meaningful employment in the green construction, horticulture, and maintenance sectors. The
Assistant Bronx Program Director works closely with the Director of Bronx Programs to integrate these programs with digital literacy, financial literacy, wellness, and other supportive services. The Assistant Director is also charged with piloting and refining new program models to increase the responsiveness of programming to the needs of students and employers alike as well as the volume of students served in line with HOPE’s annual goals.

This position reports to the Director of Bronx Programs and is located at HOPE’s Bronx location at 1360 Garrison Avenue in Hunts Point.

Responsiblities:

Program and Student Management
● Create and manage the Bronx site’s annual program calendar as well as weekly class
schedules to ensure that students can effectively participate in the SSBx, Intervine,
YouthBuild, and NYC °CoolRoofs programs. This currently includes 10 cycles per year.
● Identify, develop curriculum alongside, and manage appropriate hard skills and
certification consultants to provide occupational and sector-specific programming.
● Monitor student performance and support students, particularly those with significant
barriers to employment, in persisting in the job training and transitional employment
programs by establishing clear standards and expectations for participation in
programming as well as embedding comprehensive supportive services and internal
and external resources alongside directors, including the Directors of Brooklyn
Programs, Recruitment, Employment and Business Services, and Work Wellness.
● Partner with both Director of Bronx Programs and Facility Operations Manager in
developing operations policies that ensure office and program efficiency.
Data Collection and Analysis
● Prepare for and participate in a weekly client and monthly staff meetings
● Alongside the instructional staff, maintain accurate and current student records,
including attendance, daily performance, reports for referring partners, qualitative case
notes, student completion status, etc.,
● Ensure accuracy in HOPE’s Salesforce database as per programmatic requirements
and contracts.
● Ensure that required data and deliverables are gathered and maintained for all funding
partners.
● Work closely with the Director of Bronx Programs and leadership to identify in-demand
and employer-based training opportunities for HOPE students and graduates.
Staff Supervision
● Supervise four instructional staff and one support staff.
Professional Development
● Stay current with policy and programs in education and workforce development.
● Engage in regular conferences and workshops by field leadership.
● Identify and engage in at least two professional development opportunities per year to
support personal development goals.
● Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of
the duties in this job classification.

Qualifications:

At least three years of managing a team of three or more in a performance-based
contract environment.
● Proven team building and management skills.
● Demonstrated ability to meet program enrollment and completion goals.
● Clear verbal and written communication skills.
● An ability to build trusting, productive relationships with a wide range of
partners and stakeholders.
● Problem solver, solution oriented, flexible and adaptable.
● Experience in building, documenting and implementing processes.
● Strong digital skills, experience with CRM for reporting preferred.
● Associates degree and/or 5 years of demonstrated experience in workforce
development or a related field.

Salary: $75-85k annually
