Position Summary:
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides New York City youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with paid summer employment for up to six weeks in July and August. Participants work in entry-level jobs in a variety of industries. SYEP also provides workshops on job readiness, career exploration, financial literacy, and opportunities to continue education and social growth.
The Senior Worksite Monitor will serve as the primary point person between program participants and employer partners. This person will provide overall support to the respective New York City Department of Youth and Community Development contracts.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated experience working with people including young adults (14-21)
- Willingness to travel to complete primary worksite monitoring responsibilities
- Excellent verbal communication skills; ability to establish rapport with employers and young adults
- Responsible for taking the lead of creating, updating, and facilitating worksite and participant orientations in-person and virtually
- Responsible for assigning worksite internship across programs and based upon participants interests and experience.
- Enter weekly notes in funder data systems in a timely, organized, and accurate manner.
- Monitor employer worksites and meet regularly with worksite supervisors to assess their satisfaction with the program; complete regular worksite assessments.
- Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training programs, supervisory sessions, and accept the responsibility for aiding the development of positive team relationships as requested.
- Provide ongoing support to program participants; provide referrals as needed.
- Attend professional development workshops and program events.
- Willingness to be flexible with working some extended days or hours.
- Communicate with all staff, parents, youth, and community members in a polite and respectful manner.
- Complete all necessary program closeout tasks, including the collection of participant evaluations, worksite evaluations, worksite referrals and worksite surveys.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/HSE required; some college preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to establish rapport.
- Ability to work independently with enthusiasm; a strong sense of focus; task-oriented, with a sense of urgency; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both clients and fellow employees; non-judgmental, with a clear sense of boundaries.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication.
- Ability to meet deadlines and organize data and files
- Detail-oriented and can manage multiple tasks/projects.
- Excellent computer skills including strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook); internet and email is required.

Salary: $18.50/hr
