BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. From toddlers to seniors, we feed, shelter, teach, and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct outreach and or establish relationships with Brokers and landlords by visiting their management offices.
  • Search/secure safe, livable and affordable apartments and or rooms within the five boroughs of New York City.
  • Operate BronxWorks’ vehicle, transport agency clients and conduct travel for long distances within New York City.
  • Accompany clients to view apartments as needed.
  • Inspect unoccupied apartments.
  • Prescreen clients for supplements.
  • Visit shelters and or complete field work as required.
  • Refer clients to brokers and or landlords for apartments.
  • Maintain clean driver’s license so that you may escort clients in company car.
  • Assist clients with navigation of various housing subsidy programs (FEPS, CITYFEPS, SEPS, HPD Section 8, One Shot Deal, HRA, etc.) 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct services to clients, including intake, engagement, assessments, referral, service plan development, advocacy, counseling, exit summaries and follow-up.
  • Monitor and document client progress toward service plan goals.
  • Conduct home visits and other field work, as required.
  • Document all interactions with, or on behalf of, clients.
  • Provide general clerical support, including filing, faxing, word processing, typing, photocopying and sorting mail.
  • Answer telephones.
  • Report to, and meet with, supervisor on a monthly basis.
  • Complete program reports on a monthly basis or more frequently as required.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Work weekend and evening hours as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, electronic mail, voicemail, facsimile and copier equipment
  • One year experience preferred 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required.
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
