Position Summary: Children’s Aid’s foster care program is prepared to deal with the widest range of child welfare situations—from temporary situations that allow birth families to address issues until they can be reunited, to specialized homes with highly trained foster parents for children who need constant care for chronic medical and developmental conditions, or children reacting to trauma.

Supervisors in Treatment/Therapeutic Foster Care unit are responsible for supervising designated Case Planner(s), and report to the Program Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of Treatment/Therapeutic Foster Care Unit providing services aimed at meeting permanency and service needs of foster youth and their families
  • Provide close supervision, training and guidance to case managers to ensure safe, effective discharge planning within The Child Success Model. 
  • Act as liaison to Administration for Children’s Services and Family Court, reviewing all staff’s reports and notes prior to submittal to ACS and Court.
  • Have a demonstrated expertise in the provision of services to children and their families working toward discharge planning
  • Participate in Family Team Conferences, staff training and planning sessions.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree required, preferably in Social Work or another related field.
  •  5 years of post-Master’s experience required.
  • Thorough working knowledge of foster care and adoption system.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and to relate to birth parents, foster parents and children.
  • Previous work with adolescents and their families.
