Job Summary:
The Parent and Community Liaison/Program Assistant will design and implement all aspects of WHEDco’s parent involvement activities. The Parent and Community Liaison/Program Assistant will also assist with the daily operations of the extended day program and summer program.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the director in daily operations of youth programs including the supervision of program staff
- Develop and manage a parent/community involvement program
- Act as liaison between program director and program staff
- Act as liaison between director, program participants and their families
- Design and facilitate workshops and special events that foster parent/community involvement and improve family interactions in all WHEDco youth programs
- Conduct family conferences and communicate in English and Spanish with families in emergencies on an as needed basis
- Provide assistance to WHEDco’s HR team with hiring and payroll issues
- Order material for all youth programs
- Take on special assignments that pertain to the goals and objectives of WHEDco’s youth programs and collaborate with other staff as necessary
- Any and all additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in education or a related field required
- Minimum of three years’ professional experience working with children and/or youth
- Well organized, able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Able to work late afternoons and evenings
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) required
- Experience facilitating workshops and small group interactions a plus
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Able to effectively communicate with school personnel, program staff, parents, and students
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office
- Able to be creative and flexible and respond to the changing needs of the extended day program
- Substantial volunteer work will be considered
Competitive salary ($40,000-$45,000) and excellent benefits.
