Job Summary
This position is for a goal oriented, highly energetic, outgoing “people” person who can engage people of different backgrounds. The ideal person will create and maintain positive working relationships with program participants. He/she must be a self-starter committed to the mission, values, beliefs of BronxWorks and Workforce Development.
Responsibilities
- Minimum 3-4 years program management experience
- Demonstrated effective leadership and supervisory experience
- Prior social service experience with a proven experience in workforce development, preferably on a performance-based project
- Strong supervisory & technical skills
- Self-motivated with an engaging customer service friendly personality
- Engaging personality and detailed oriented skills are essential
- Ability to collect and analyze program participant demographics and outcome
- Excellent team building and leadership skills
- Strong time management, organizational and multi-tasking competencies
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Work flexible hours, including some evenings including Saturdays with prior notice and as needed.
- Experience working with targeted community a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, database management and other standard business technology is required
- Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required.
- Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory.
- Attend internal and external agency meetings and trainings.
- Submit reports as required including monthly reports to supervisor
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Program Specific Responsibilities
- Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants
- Responsible along with Assistant Program Director for the overall quality and efficiency of the Jobs Plus program
- Oversee all program components, including staff orientation, training, and development; client assessment, service plan development and progress; relationships with other community based organizations
- Recruit, train and supervise assistant directors, coordinators, and direct service staff
- Administer personnel policies and procedures
- Develop regular communication with contract managers for programs supervised; act as liaison with funding source
- Ensure all programs meet contractual goals and reporting requirements
- Monitor program progress and submit all required reports to funding sources, including government and private sources
- Submit internal progress reports to Assistant Department Director, Department Director and/or Executive Director on a monthly basis, or more frequently as required
- Help prepare proposals for the development, expansion, and continuation of programs in coordination with Assistant Department Director and Department Director
- Hold monthly individual supervision meetings with staff and group meetings as necessary Act as link between the administrative office, fiscal department, and program staff
- Monitor staff performance, including performing case reviews and structured observations
- Participate in and with staff in agency events
- Act as a liaison with the community including the targeted area housing developments
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in social Work or a related field of study required. Master’s Degree in Social Work preferred
- Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required
Preferred:
- Proficiency in Spanish
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
