 BronxWorks is hiring one (1) Outreach Specialist for the Cross Bronx Preservation Program 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Under the direction of the Program Director to support the program goals of the Cross Bronx Preservation Program: 

  • Assist in designing and implementing effective and successful marketing and outreach strategy that engages NYCHA residents through door-to-door canvassing, tabling, social media and community events and other key opportunities. 
  • Act as a community representative of the Cross Bronx Preservation Community Services Program., serving the Housing Developments of Murphy Houses and Baychester Houses 
  • Act as liaison between residents, community leaders and the program; and reach out to residents, community leaders, institutions, businesses, and others on a regular basis. 
  • Assist with planning and executing all employment related special events including but not limited to job fairs, day/evening workshops, collaboration with community partners. 
  • Collaboratively conduct on-going exploration to ensure program is addressing community needs and NYCHA resident’s expectations. 
  • Attend internal and external agency meetings and trainings. 
  • Submit reports as required including monthly reports to supervisor. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. 

PROGAM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Required to travel to developments, sites, events, and other various locations across the Bronx 
  • Distribute program-marketing materials through a combination of knocking on doors, talking to residents in their homes or lobbies, and attending tenant association meetings, community meetings, or events. 
  • Develop and conduct surveys to build a strong understanding or community priorities, collect information from and analyze feedback of – residents surveys and focus groups 
  • Develop strategies for creating an environment in the housing development that encourages works and engagement in the community. 
  • Initiate conversations with residents about employment, such as interest in securing job, the quality of current employment, and plan for the future. 
  • Recruit and enroll residents into the program 
  • Lead and conduct orientations and other program related session

    QUALIFICATIONS 

    Required: 

  • HSE/High School diploma or equivalent credentials; will consider pending completions. 
  • 6 months to a year of experience 
  • Being a resident of Murphy Houses or Baychester Houses is preferred. 
  • Engaging personality and detailed orientated skills are essential. 
  • Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required. 
    Preferred: 
  • Proficiency in Spanish
