Under the supervision of the Director of Workforce programs position, the Outreach & Community Relations Manager is responsible for supporting the Workforce Department in achieving outreach and enrollment goals for all programs including SYEP, WLG, OY, CNH, CNBS, CWE, and T2C. The Outreach & Community Relations will supervise outreach specialist and manage a broad range of outreach initiatives and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Develop and implement an annual outreach and recruitment strategy for all programs across the Workforce department including SYEP, WLG, OY, CNH, CNBS, CWE, and T2C that advances agency priorities and promotes the brand of the Phipps Neighborhoods
  • Supervise the outreach team; delegate assignments, offer guidance and support.
  • Plan and implement community events hosted by Phipps Neighborhoods, and also conduct outreach at such as street fairs, health fairs, youth fairs, public school open houses and other public events.
  • Help ensure that Phipps Neighborhoods programs utilize best practices when conducting outreach activities, including serving as a resource and sounding board for community members, providing guidance and feedback, and developing an integrated outreach strategy.
  • Maintain a calendar of outreach dates/times/locations, and ensure that employees conducting outreach have appropriate materials for distribution to the public
  • Manage the outreach database, track and analyze the effectiveness of your outreach
  • Maintain inventory of outreach supplies and equipment; distributes supplies and equipment, assists with ordering supplies and equipment for outreach
  • Work cross functionally, particularly with the Operations & Compliance, Case Management, Employer Engagement and Education & Training units.
  • Perform any and all tasks deemed necessary by supervisor 

Qualifications: 

Minimum of High School Diploma or GED with at least three years of demonstrated experience working with youth and young adults in workforce, community and school-based settings. Bachelor’s Degree or College credits strongly preferred.  Strong interpersonal, public speaking and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders including program participants, staff, funders and program partners. Strong critical thinking, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills are required. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Self-directed and able to take initiative. Ability to handle matters of confidentiality with utmost tact and diplomacy.

Physical Demands:

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as outreach tables, chairs and boxes of outreach materials.  Employee will occasionally be required to attend outdoor events.
