Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York City’s leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults through-out Manhattan and New York City. Program Summary: Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center (LSNC), a community center located in the Amsterdam Houses and Amsterdam Addition on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, has been offering programs for children and their families for over 65 years. Currently, LSNC operates an After School Program and Summer Camp for children ages 5 through 12 offering academic support, cultural enrichment, and physical fitness programs; an evening older youth program funded by DYCD; a weekend arts program.

Position Summary: Working closely with the Site Supervisor, the part-time maintenance person will maintain building cleanliness; provide maintenance services as needed and/or assigned; address immediate operational concerns; and ensure that tolls and materials are maintained in good working order and are available when needed.

Schedule: Saturdays 10 am to 7:00 pm; with weekday on-call schedule for additional coverage.

Hourly Rate: $17.50 – $18.75 (commensurate with comparable experience)

Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties

  • Ensure maintenance and cleanliness throughout the building.
  • Sweep and maintain cleanliness of entrances
  • Turn on and maintain cleanliness of air-conditioning units or heaters
  • Sweep and mop building including halls, classrooms, gym and office
  • Room set ups for daily activities and special events
  • Change trash liners and dispose of trash on a daily basis
  • Clean all bathrooms daily and windows regularly
  • Move furniture as needed
  • Inventory, storage and organization of cleaning supplies
  • Check all safety materials – Alarms, Exit signs, Outlets, etc and report if repairs are needed
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development
  • Work with maintenance coordinator and site director to ensure all areas are in compliance with city regulations
  • Secure facility, check all offices are closed and ensure lock-up of building at end of day
  • Follow “cleaning schedule run”
  • Respond to requests by program directors and coordinators
  • Must be able to follow Covid-19 regulations as mandated by operating programs
  • Other tasks as required

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as a member of a team
  • Must meet clearance requirements including Department of Education fingerprinting

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of operation of buffer machine
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to perform simple maintenance and repairs

Work Environment:

  • Indoor, some outdoor
