GENERAL DUTIES

I.T. Support Assistants support routine operations and problem resolution of computing and/or communications functions at a College or Unit. They work in technical support, applications development, operations, help desk, and similar environments, as well as in the field where equipment may be located.

Work tasks include as:

-Operating, transporting, adjusting, and installing/configuring computing and related equipment

-Communicating with technology users and staff to understand, identify, document and resolve problems

-Performing simple repairs to computing and related equipment.

Lehman’s Office of Online Education seeks an enthusiastic IT SUPPORT ASSISTANT – EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIST (20 HOURS/WEEK).

The Office of Online Education at Lehman College serves to create, promote and support effective and accessible online education. The Office of Online Education supports the use of instructional technologies in face-to-face, hybrid, and online teaching. We advise and consult on the use of instructional technologies, guided by research, inquiry, and experimentation. We assist faculty in the design and delivery of online education. We train and consult in the implementation of online instructional activities, course redesign using technology, and the creation of new online courses and programs.

The Educational Technologist will assistwith

  • Preparations for training or webinars and events that use Blackboard, Zoom, or other ed techtools
  • Reviewing and preparation of training and learning materials such as instructional guides in text orvideo
  • Support faculty and students with troubleshooting, course design, course review, etc. using Blackboard, Zoom, Voicethread, video/audio, or other tools
  • Monitoring email to answer and/or refer questions as needed from faculty and students concerning ed tech tools, online learning, and other
  • Work with IT to make website updates, revisions, and create/design newwebpages
  • Support office staff with data reporting usingExcel
  • Provide technical assistance for online/remote conference, events, meetings,etc.
  • Other responsibilities asassigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
  2. Eighteen months of related full-time work experience or equivalent, such as completion of eighteen college credits in Information Technology
  3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency
  4. A Motor Vehicle Driver’s license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

  • Be a proficient user of Microsoft Office and familiar with Blackboard, andZoom
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable providing assistance and support both in-person and online

COMPENSATION

New hire rate: $21.30/Hour

Incumbent:$24.08/Hour

*This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment only.
