Position Summary: We are seeking a qualified Family Development Coach who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Neighborhood Development Area (NDA) Grant at Comprehensive Model School Project, CMSP, 327. The NDA program will serve a total of 58 students to provide assessment, service planning case management, and/or intervention work. The program will support attendance, academic, and social-emotional learning, while also connecting students to internship opportunities and referrals to resources. The Family Development Coach is on-site at the school 5 days a week and is responsible for the management, integration, and coordination of student and family support services at the school, as well as programming and partnerships. The Family Development Coach will work with alongside and will report to the Senior Director of CMSP 327.
- Will oversee a program of 58 students and will manage a caseload of 58 students to provide assessment, service planning, case management, and/or intervention work within the school setting.
- Meet with each student regularly to develop a service plan and set goals relative to school attendance, grade performance, and internship participation.
- Weekly group sessions and individual meetings will take place to help assess and monitor student progress through goal setting and case management.
- Responsible for arranging, coordinating, and implementing the initiative’s strategies, services, and resources in consultation with the Senior Director and school administration.
- Liaises with the school, other Community Based Organization (CBO) partners and vendors, and city agencies on behalf of the initiative at the school level
- Work in partnership with New Settlement’s larger After-School programs to develop and implement post-secondary after-school workshops and seminars, including work-readiness support, soft skills building, college readiness, career pathways and leadership development
- Participates in the development and manages the implementation consistent with the requirements of the Neighborhood Development Area grant and with the expectations of the principal and Senior Director.
- Participates in weekly meetings with the Senior Director and meetings with stakeholders as needed.
- Provide internal and external referrals for participants and families of programs that present with needs.
- Conduct workshops and group training for participants and families.
- Connect families to community resources such as job development and food insecurity.
- Communicate with Senior Director about any issues including schedule modifications or important behavioral or environmental difficulties, in accordance with program, company, local and federal regulations
- Complete The Family Development Credential Program (a requirement)
- Other duties or special projects as assigned by Senior Program Director authorized/appointed representative
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling or Social Work, Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience providing assessment, service planning, case management, and/or intervention work with an adolescent population and preferably already serving the school community in some capacity.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience collaborating effectively with public schools and community-based organizations to improve the outcomes of at-risk students
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience working within or managing programs serving youth and families.
- Significant experience with assets and needs analysis, community organizing, problem-solving, networking and developing relationships with private and public partners, program management, and improving access to resources for students, parents, school staff, and community members.
- Flexible schedule and willingness to work school hours as well as some weekends/evenings for parent/teacher conferences and school or agency events.
- Interest in adolescent development, academic improvement, social-emotional learning, Family and/or community organizing, and working with school communities, and Community Schools.
- Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask, analyze and drive process improvement.
- Must have excellent organizational, teamwork, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Must commit to working from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
- Strong relationship-building and group facilitation capabilities, incorporating cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Deep understanding of positive youth development, education learning standards, and issues facing immigrant and first-generation youth in the U.S.
- Takes initiative and can solve problems.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and trustworthy.
- Must be cleared and maintain clearance throughout duration of employment by NYS DOH and DOE fingerprinting screening, NYS Central Registrar Background Check, 3 Reference checks, Staff Exclusion List (SEL), and must provide a physical examination with updated TB test.
Salary: $48k-52k annually
