BronxWorks is hiring one (1) Coach for the Cornerstone Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all aspects of the SNL sports program, demonstrating effective communication and planning, strong organizational and administrative skills, and sound decision-making
- Responsible for the recruitment and retention of SNL team members
- Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Observes players during competition and practice, to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
- Monitors the academic performance of SNL team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their children.
- Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletics program.
- Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
- Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, & requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
- Organize, plan and conduct practices, game, tournaments and hold individual skill instructions session
- Work directly with DYCD as a liaison for BronxWorks
- Coordinate with the Program Coordinator and Program Director to provide accurate data for game scores as well as individual and team accomplishments/challenges.
- Participate in the development of the whole student- regarding individual well-being and life skills.
- Represent the program with the highest level of professionalism, sportsmanship and integrity.
- Foster and maintain a culture that demonstrates a commitment to compliance with all leagues, DYCD, and BronxWorks rules and regulations.
- Foster and maintain a culture that demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as well as trust and mutual respect.
- Participates in special activities to include parents’ night, banquets, awards nights, and pep assemblies.
- Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
- Promotes good public relations by personal appearance, hygiene, attitude and conversation
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2 years experience minimum in coaching sports to youth ages 11- 24
- High School Diploma or Associates Degree in Sports Management
- Vast knowledge of Sports landscape
- Understanding of sports played at high school to collegiate level
- Ability to use video conferencing platforms
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required.
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
