Salary Range: $20.0000 To 20.0000 Hourly

BronxWorks is hiring one (1) Coach for the Cornerstone Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversee all aspects of the SNL sports program, demonstrating effective communication and planning, strong organizational and administrative skills, and sound decision-making
  • Responsible for the recruitment and retention of SNL team members
  • Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
  • Observes players during competition and practice, to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
  • Monitors the academic performance of SNL team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
  • Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their children.
  • Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletics program.
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, & requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Organize, plan and conduct practices, game, tournaments and hold individual skill instructions session
  • Work directly with DYCD as a liaison for BronxWorks
  • Coordinate with the Program Coordinator and Program Director to provide accurate data for game scores as well as individual and team accomplishments/challenges.
  • Participate in the development of the whole student- regarding individual well-being and life skills.
  • Represent the program with the highest level of professionalism, sportsmanship and integrity.
  • Foster and maintain a culture that demonstrates a commitment to compliance with all leagues, DYCD, and BronxWorks rules and regulations.
  • Foster and maintain a culture that demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as well as trust and mutual respect.
  • Participates in special activities to include parents’ night, banquets, awards nights, and pep assemblies.
  • Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
  • Promotes good public relations by personal appearance, hygiene, attitude and conversation

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 1-2 years experience minimum in coaching sports to youth ages 11- 24
  • High School Diploma or Associates Degree in Sports Management
  • Vast knowledge of Sports landscape
  • Understanding of sports played at high school to collegiate level
  • Ability to use video conferencing platforms

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required.
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
