The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Division of Environmental Health works to prevent and control illness and injury related to environmental and occupational health risks through outreach, education, surveillance and enforcement. With staff of 1,000, the Division covers a broad range of subject matter, including oversight of environmental investigations, lead poisoning, injury prevention, occupational health, food safety, child care, radiation control, recreational and drinking water quality, air quality, climate health, vector control, veterinary public health and pest control. The Division of Environmental Health seeks three City Pest Control Aide for its Bureau of Veterinary and Pest Control Services.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Remove refuse accumulations from the interiors and exteriors of premises and adjacent lots in Pest Control Program target areas and load such accumulations on trucks. Assist exterminators in rodent control activities in vacant lots, parks and in interiors and exteriors of buildings.
- Assist in the analysis of the designated rodent infestation conditions and in selecting the appropriate rodenticide and baits for exterminating and eliminating the infestation.
- Assist in miscellaneous unskilled activities related to the Pest Control Program including Office and Field work.
- Seal and plug up holes in structures, retaining walls and sidewalks that allow the free movement of rodents.
Qualifications:
- No formal education or experience requirements for this position
- Knowledge of pest control and a valid Driver’s license a plus
Salary: $31k annually
