ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION A pioneering not-for-profit affordable housing developer and community programs initiator in New York City, Settlement Housing Fund, Inc. has worked since 1969 to create more than 8,700 apartments through 64 affordable rental and homeownership development projects. Settlement Housing Fund presently owns and maintains 36 buildings containing 1,979 apartments in various locations, with concentrations of housing and programs in the Mt. Eden section of the Bronx, Crown Heights, Brooklyn, the Two Bridges neighborhood on the Lower East Side, as well as at other sites throughout Manhattan. We expect that our portfolio will continue to grow. Settlement Housing Fund is the parent organization of The Crenulated Company, LTD dba New Settlement which was created in 1989 with the acquisition of 14 abandoned buildings from the City of New York. New Settlement has evolved into a robust social service organization offering a range of community-based services in education, college access, youth development, arts, workforce development, community organizing, wellness and other key services that provide important resources to the neighborhood’s youth and families. New Settlement’s success has been achieved through close collaboration with a wide range of educational institutions, housing and community development organizations, businesses, youth development and social service agencies – in the neighborhood, Bronx-wide, across New York and nationally. The programs at New Settlement are supported by local, state and federal government agencies, as well as foundations, corporations, organizations and individuals.  
DESCRIPTION JOB SUMMARY: Based at Claremont International High School at the Taft Educational Campus, this full-time Licensed Clinical Social Worker reports to the Community School Director, will be responsible for:Job Duties include but not limited to:Maintain a caseload of high school students presenting attendance, behavioral, and academic challenges.Provide individual counseling and case management.Facilitate group counseling/workshops on various topics including academics, attendance, socio-emotional learning, and mental health.Provide crisis management interventions and facilitate peer mediations as indicated.Assist students in setting and reaching both short and long-term academic and attendance-related goals.Maintain parent/family involvement with phone correspondence, home visits, and in-school parent/family meetings.Work collaboratively with Principals, Administration, Special Education Team, Teachers, Staff and New Settlement staff to help develop solutions to student, group, and school-wide issues.Coordinate services with external providers and link families to appropriate community resources as needed.Provide workshops to school staff and parents on variety of areas relating to child social/emotional development.Manage case files and maintain timely notes on counseling sessions.Complete necessary data entry on required databases.Participate in weekly team meetings and weekly individual supervision.Facilitate meetings with school staff.Assist with the planning and implementation of schoolwide events such as Family Night and the Community School Forum.Provide task and/or clinical supervision to up to two (2) MSW interns.Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:Master of Social Work required – Licensed preferred.Must be available Monday-Friday 9:00am – 5:00 pm, with an unpaid hour for lunch and with occasional evening and weekend events.At least two (2) years of experience working with adolescents in an urban environment (such as social worker, counselor, case manager, etc.).Ability to relate to individuals of diverse backgrounds.Commitment to providing affordable housing for low-to-moderate income population.Capacity to work independently and collaboratively with team members.Computer proficiency required, including Microsoft Word and Excel, email correspondence, and database management.Bilingual preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
